City of Gdansk (Danzig)

The city of Gdansk, known as "Danzig" for some years prior to WW II, is located on the Baltic Sea.  It is well known for the protests of the shipyard workers, led by Lech Waleschea for a greater voice.  Its harbor is also known as the place where the first shots of WW II were fired.  A large river, the Vistula, flows into the Baltic just east of the city.
